Appeal against a refusal of planning permission for a garage conversion

Appeal Allowed - Full Planning Permission Granted

garage conversion planning permission

Council: London Borough of Harrow

Katie approached us after the council refused permission for the conversion of the garage in her property into a room, removing the garage door and replacing it with a window.

A garage conversion would normally be permitted development, meaning that planing permission is not required. However, when this estate was built, a condition was applied removing the homeowners’ permitted development rights.

Nevertheless, there is less need for garage parking these days and the new window was well designed. Some of the other houses in the area had already converted their garages without causing any harm to the character and appearance of the area.

We were delighted when the planning inspector agreed with our arguments and the appeal was allowed and full planning permission granted.
