Brent serves more Planning Enforcement Notices than any other council in England

Update: This article discusses enforcement activity in Brent based on published government statistics up to June 2022. While the figures relate to that period, Brent continues to be our most active council nationally in terms of planning enforcement.

If you have received an Enforcement Notice from Brent council and are considering an appeal, further information about planning enforcement appeals in Brent is available here.

Brent is our busiest borough for enforcement appeals. We help homeowners and developers who have fallen foul of the planning enforcement system. In some cases, we can work with the council to resolve enforcement problems. In others, we apply for retrospective planning permission. Often, we submit a planning appeal.

The main reason Brent is so busy for us is that it issues more enforcement notices each year that almost any other council in the country.

After topping the tables in previous years, it ranked in third place in the year to June 2022, serving a total of 96 enforcement notices, or almost two per week. It came in just behind Westminster City Council, which served 130, and the London Borough of Barnet, which served 120.

Enforcement notices are serious legal documents and can require significant steps to be taken, including the removal or alteration of development. For that reason, anyone facing enforcement action should seek professional advice at an early stage.

Just Planning is an enforcement appeal specialist. If you receive an Enforcement Notice, contact one of our experienced planning consultants for advice. You can email us at: info@just-planning.co.uk.
