Appeal against a refusal of planning permission for a two-storey side and rear extension

Appeal Allowed (Full Planning Permission Granted) on 17 October 2024

Address:

Rosedale House,
Bradshaw Lane,
Pilling,
Lancashire
PR3 6SN

Council:
Wyre Borough Council

We do a lot of appeals for two-storey side extensions (as we have explained before in this article) and this was a typical example of a council nervous about a relatively large extension that could be seen from the street.

Were council has refused planning permission because it thought the extension too large. The inspector agreed that it was large (with a width of 8.8m) but decided that it would integrate well with the existing house.

It would have a matching ridge height and a new gable to add architectural interest. It would not be overly dominant and would not appear out of place.

This is not our first victory against Wyre Council for a two-storey side extension, check out our 2023 success here.
